Island Research & Educational Initiative (IREI) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization committed to upholding the unique environmental and cultural legacies of islands and island peoples. We believe that islands are global models for the successful management, conservation and sustainable use of limited natural resources. Safeguarding the islands, their peoples and environments is an important part of the preservation of our Earth's rapidly decreasing cultural and biological diversity.
